Museo de la Ciudad de México

Este es otro museo que nunca había visitado. Ubicado en el mero centro de la Ciudad de México, en la calle de Pino Suárez.

Es una hermosa casona virreinal, del siglo XVII, que fue el palacio de los Condes de Santiago de Calimaya, en uno de los primeros solares que repartió Hernán Cortés a sus allegados.

Ha sido remodelado muchas veces, siendo desde palacio hasta vecindad. En 1964 fue inaugurado como el Museo de la Ciudad de México y desde entonces ha tenido sus altas y sus bajas. Yo creo que ahora esta en un buen momento.

Tiene un área de exposición permanente: "Todo cabe en una cuenca.." sobre la historia de la Ciudad de México y varias para exposiciones temporales.

En el patio principal hay una fuente preciosa y el estudio del famoso pintor mexicano Joaquín Clausell es muy interesante.

Está ahí la biblioteca Jaime Torres Bodet, famoso escritor, con el mayor acervo bibliográfico acerca de la ciudad de México que no sé porque NO vi. Tendré que volver.

Es un lugar muy bonito e interesante de visitar.

This is another museum that had never visited before. Located in the very center of Mexico City, in Pino Suarez Street.

It is a beautiful colonial house, from the seventeenth century, which was the palace of the Counts of Santiago de Calimaya, one of the first parcels Hernán Cortés handed to his camarades.

It has been remodeled many times, going from a palace to low rent houses. Back in 1964 it opened as the Mexico City Museum and since then it has had its ups and downs. I think nowadays are good times for the museum.

It has an area for ​​a permanent exhibition: "Everything fits into a basin .." about the history of Mexico City and also several temporary exhibition halls.

There is a beautiful fountain in the main courtyard, and they preserve the study of the famous Mexican painter Joaquín Clausell. Very interesting.

They also have the famous writer Jaime Torres Bodet library with the largest bibliography on Mexico City which I don't know why I missed! I'll have to go back.

It is a very beautiful and interesting place to visit.

La colonia Roma / Roma Neighborhood

Colonia Roma

La colonia Roma es de mis sitios favoritos en la ciudad. Esta colonia (barrio) nació allá en el Porfiriato a principios del siglo XX. Como don Porfirio era un admirador de todo lo europeo, pues la mayoría de las construcciones se edificaron con este estilo. Toda la colonia tiene ese aire. Hermosa y elegante.

Ahora está de súper moda y está llena de restaurantes, museos, galerías, murales, parques, tiendas, bares y cafés. Puedes encontrar lugar para todos los gustos y bolsillos. Hay gente de todos partes del mundo. Es espectacular para caminar y tiene muy buen ambiente.

Lo único que no me gustó es la gran cantidad de cables de todos tipos que afean de manera terrible las calles y las fachadas de tantos edificios hermosos. Ojalá las autoridades se modernicen y hagan instalaciones subterráneas como ya se ha hecho en San Miguel de Allende o el centro histórico de Morelia, por ejemplo.

Creo que iré muy seguido a la Roma. Es un lugar para volver y volver....

Colonia Roma is one of my favorite places in the city. This colony (neighborhood) was born in the Porfiriato in the early twentieth century. As Don Porfirio was an admirer of Europe, most of the buildings were built in this european style. The whole neighborhood has that flair. Beautiful and elegant.

Now Colonia Roma is super trendy and full of restaurants, museums, galleries, murals, parks, shops, bars and cafes. You can find places for all tastes and budgets. There's people from all around the world. It is spectacular to walk and has a very good atmosphere.

I think I'll go very often to Colonia Roma. It is a place to visit again and again ....
